Can Women Have Six-Pack Abs? - Learn How To Get Abs Naturally! Are you wondering whether women can have six pack abs? Well in fact, women certainly can, and it is often much easier to get abs for women than it is for men. Of course, as a woman grows older, it might become harder and harder to get abs, but it does not mean that it is impossible.

1. How Should You Workout To Get Six Pack Abs?

The best exercises should trigger your body’s metabolism to burn more fat, and these exercises include lifting some weights and other fat burning workouts. Most women think that weight lifting will make them big and bulky, but this is a myth. Lifting suitable weights will build up the lean muscle in your body, and the more lean muscle you have in your body, the faster your body burns fat.

Those exercise are chin ups, rows and lastly but most importantly; deadlifts. Strength Training For Mixed Martial Arts

by baLooT on April 30, 2008

Strength Training For Mixed Martial ArtsWhen it comes to training for MMA, many athletes are still using outdated training methods that may actually be doing more harm than good. To devise a proper strength and conditioning program for a mixed martial artist we need to look at the specific demands of the sport.

During competition a mixed martial artist will find himself making explosive movements such as strikes and takedowns. He will also find himself exerting maximal strength concentrically, eccentrically and probably even more often; isometrically. Lastly, their endurance will be pushed to the limits and beyond.

If you do not take all of this into account during your training, you may be headed for disappointment and defeat.

Having established what we need to cover with our training, the next step is setting up the workouts. Since most combat athletes train in a variety of disciplines for several hours a week, there will not be a ton of time to dedicate to the strength training workouts. Three day per week, sixty minute full body workouts are the optimal choice for most combat athletes. Any more than that will usually lead to overtraining and sub par results.

In those three workouts, we need to cover speed, strength, endurance and in most cases, muscle hypertrophy. That’s a lot to tackle in three hours a week. So how do we do it? [click to continue…]

Heavy Duty Muscle Building

by baLooT on April 30, 2008

Heavy Duty Muscle BuildingIf you don’t know who Mike Mentzer was I will give you some quick background. He was a famous bodybuilder who competed back in the seventies and eighties against none other than Arnold, himself. He was known for being a huge proponent of extremely low volume training. Mike was either loved or hated; there was no in between. He had some radical view points and an in-your-face way of expressing them. He even had the balls to call Arnold out about his high volume training protocols and say what a complete waste of time it all was.

Mike Mentzer’s basic ideas and theories were that we are all grossly over-trained in sets and overall volume but under-trained in intensity. He recommended somewhere between one and three sets per bodypart, once every 7-21 days. He also knew what I have since learned; that high protein diets are unnecessary and are just another scam perpetrated by the bodybuilding industry to force you to buy more protein powder and useless crap.

Many people thought Mike Mentzer was a genius and learned a great deal from him while making tremendous progress employing his advice. Others thought he was completely insane and needed to be committed. [click to continue…]

How To Build Muscle With High Reps

by baLooT on April 30, 2008

How To Build Muscle With High RepsNormally I don’t recommend high rep exercises for most novice and intermediate lifters. However, there does come a time when you are more a little bit more advanced and have developed a pretty decent amount of strength when high reps can of great benefit in helping you pack on new muscle. I don’t advocate the use of high reps for most beginners because normally they don’t have the strength, coordination or stabilization needed to maintain perfect form throughout a high rep set and are therefore more likely to sustain an injury. Furthermore, most beginners usually can’t use a significant amount of weight for much more than eight to ten reps on most exercises.

Using high reps to build muscle only works with a few muscle groups and exercises and shouldn’t be used all the time. It should also be noted that the high rep set should always follow a heavy set or two. Therefore you would do one or two sets of 5-8 reps first and then follow it up with a set of 15-20.
