Proform 585 V Perspective Treadmill Review

by baLooT on June 19, 2008

Proform 585 V Perspective Treadmill ReviewThe Proform 585 V Perspective treadmill is near to the top end of Proform’s extensive range of treadmills and is to our knowledge the lowest price machine in the UK to have a TV in the console!

You’ll either love the TV or think it’s a waste of space. The 7 inch screen can play both TV or DVD via RCA jack socket but it does take a while to adjust to it when running - but it’s a pretty good picture. Some of us on the team thought it was a distraction from the training whilst others liked to have something to take their mind off the effort and felt they could train longer and harder as a result.

But let’s remember we’re talking about a fitness machine and not a home entertainment system.

So how does it perform as a treadmill? The Proform 585V has an impressive selection of programmes - 26 in total - 20 pre-set plus four heart rate controlled programmes to maximise your session for fat loss and improving fitness. It also has two customisable programmes for you to set your own challenge.

What Kind of Home Gym Equipment Do You Need?

by baLooT on May 12, 2008

What Kind of Home Gym Equipment Do You Need? Are you a little overweight? Well maybe a lot, but all you really need is exercise right? Although that may be true, everyone needs to start an exercise routine and exercise will get you on your way to losing weight. But once you have started your exercise routine you will also want to start watching what you eat. The first step is to decide and start on that exercise routine. You can join a gym, but many of us just don’t have the time to get there, plus it’s a little embarrassing working out in front of all those people unless you’ve got the perfect bod. Another option is to put together a home gym and chose the right home gym equipment for your needs.

Before heading out to buy that home gym equipment you need to know what it is you want to do. You need to set your goals first. Do you want to lose weight and tone muscles? Do you want to do strength training? If you plan to include cardiovascular workouts into your fitness regime, then you need to choose the right type of equipment. Make sure you read all the reviews you can about the machines you are thinking about buying.

Things You Should Think About when Shopping for Home Gym Equipment

You want to be able to get the most out of any machine you purchase. That means you need to pay attention to your home gym equipment brands. You don’t want any of the machines to stop working or to break down.

Why Ab Machines Can Never Give You a Slimmer Waistline

by baLooT on May 6, 2008

Why Ab Machines Can Never Give You a Slimmer WaistlineThese infomercials are largely aimed at tricking the public to believe that they can “spot reduce” their stomach by doing a few ab exercises each day.

You’ve seen the infomercials – so you know what we’re talking about.

These infomercials usually have a bunch of super-healthy fitness models walking around with perfect abs — and they tell you that they owe their great looking abs to whatever “ab machine” that they’re trying to sell to you.

These fitness models usually have a “smile” on their face as they demonstrate the ab machine for you, and they do this so that you’ll believe that it’s “fun and easy” to use their ab machine.

Heavy Duty Muscle Building

by baLooT on April 30, 2008

Heavy Duty Muscle BuildingIf you don’t know who Mike Mentzer was I will give you some quick background. He was a famous bodybuilder who competed back in the seventies and eighties against none other than Arnold, himself. He was known for being a huge proponent of extremely low volume training. Mike was either loved or hated; there was no in between. He had some radical view points and an in-your-face way of expressing them. He even had the balls to call Arnold out about his high volume training protocols and say what a complete waste of time it all was.

Mike Mentzer’s basic ideas and theories were that we are all grossly over-trained in sets and overall volume but under-trained in intensity. He recommended somewhere between one and three sets per bodypart, once every 7-21 days. He also knew what I have since learned; that high protein diets are unnecessary and are just another scam perpetrated by the bodybuilding industry to force you to buy more protein powder and useless crap.

Many people thought Mike Mentzer was a genius and learned a great deal from him while making tremendous progress employing his advice. Others thought he was completely insane and needed to be committed. [click to continue…]

Elliptical Machine Benefits and Increasing Popularity

by baLooT on April 27, 2008

Elliptical machines are an excellent way to get your dose of exercise every day. These machines combine the natural motion of cross-country skiing and walking to provide a low-impact workout. Elliptical machines are often powered by electricity and provide different methods of resistance, including aerodynamic, motor-assisted braking, and magnetic. This equipment is increasing in popularity as more people become aware of the many benefits these unique machines provide.

Elliptical trainers can aid in providing healthy bodies by sustaining a healthy bone density. According to research, the bone density has an impact on how healthy a person is. Elliptical machines are quite possibly the best all-round fitness equipment available. They can often be found in top gyms, but have recently become affordable for the home user. The currently available line of home ellipticals range from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand, most of which don’t take up too much space in your home when in use or stored away. Home Exercise Equipment - Read This First Before Buying Home Exercise Equipment

by baLooT on April 25, 2008

Before you go and waste hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars on home exercise equipment, read this article. You’ll learn about which home exercise equipment to avoid and which ones are good money spent.

First off, I don’t think you need any home exercise equipment that costs over $100 if your goal is weight loss and nicer abs. The only exception being the elliptical machine… but that’s not even 100% necessary.

If you’re going to buy home exercise equipment, then here are my 3 top choices:

Home Exercise Equipment #1: Hula hoop

Yeah, that’s right… the hula hoop… or hoola hoop, however you want to spell it. This is becoming 1 of my favorites really quick. You’ll know why once you try it out. Start out by trying to do it for 2 minutes at a time. Build up to at least 10 minutes total in a day. I prefer to space out my 2 minute mini-sessions of hula hooping. [click to continue…]
