Skin care for African American skin can begin by choosing the right makeup. Unlike those with lighter complexion, it is a tad bit harder to look for the right shades for people with color. Good thing is that of the recent years, most makeup companies have made tones and shades specifically for ebony skinned women, also suiting the different tones of ebony. Some cosmetic companies also specialize in makeup for those with darker skin tones. It might be best to check those products that even allow you to mix and blend your own personal shade of choice. So let us begin discussing African American skin care by using the right makeup.
Moisturizer with sun block
Although darker skin already has the best protection against the sun, best to have this still as precautionary measure. If you have oily skin, choose moisturizers that are not oil based.

This is the concluding segment of my two-part (Aloe Vera - Is It Just A Laxative?) article on the Aloe Vera plant which for many years was erroneously regarded as no more than a powerful laxative. Aloe Vera in actual fact is one of Nature’s most potent medicinal herbs. In tandem with it’s ability as an effective and natural weight loss agent, it is also a strong and healthy detoxifying agent.
Aloe Vera as a Detoxifying Agent:
Aloe Vera also has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties against a broad range of microbes. Carrisyn, an extract of Aloe Vera, has shown recent evidence of being able to inhibit a number of viruses ‘in-vitro’, including the strains responsible for herpes simples, measles, and HIV. Carrisyn appears to work by stimulating the immune system to trigger the production of blood cells that fight infection, thereby boosting the immune function.
Amino acids methionine, serine, threonine and molybdenum are useful. They detoxify heavy metals, help in proper metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and protein thus preventing buildup of fat in the liver and arteries.

Herbs have been used as medicines for thousands of years. Till recently people relied on traditional systems of medicine that were based on observational analysis, It is only now that scientific methods have evolved enough to allow experimental research. However, this does not denigrate the observations made over centuries. Plants used in folk medicine are still the main source of drug discovery and development. Modern medicine may have the tools but nature still has all the compounds.
One promising herb that is often unrecognized for all its medicinal properties is Aloe Vera. This herb seems to be the complete package for a good life. Its active ingredients can not only detoxify the body of harmful toxins but also rid the body of excess adipose tissue in a harmonious way. Aloe Vera is an excellent choice for a clean and healthy life. The herb also has appreciable beneficial effects that protect the skin from the elements.
Aloe Vera draws the heat out of burns, soothes and softens the skin just minutes after being applied. Sunburnt, dry or cracked skin and scrapes can all benefit from a slathering of Aloe Vera gel. It is said to maintain beauty, smoothen wrinkles, and brighten the face. Nature packs Aloe Vera in ready-to use leaves, (just break off a leaf and squeeze the gel onto a burn or bruise) but its effectiveness and quick action is greatly facilitated by processing its active principle.

We’ve all heard about the miracle drug, Botox, being injected into people’s skin to bring back that youthful glow and take years off our face. Well, you may have heard that Botox is not safe and can only be injected in between the eyebrows. For most of us, our wrinkles are in more places than in between our eyebrows! Plus, you don’t just get one treatment, but many and it’s not even guaranteed to work! Just think, thousands of dollars going right down the drain!
So, what do we do to get the same results without spending over $700 a pop to get stuck with needles? There are some wonderful anti-wrinkle creams that provide a very safe alternative with long-term results. You don’t have to break the bank and put your health in danger just to have gorgeous skin.
Let’s look at a very important ingredient of any anti-wrinkle cream worth its weight in gold - Argireline. Acetyl Hexapeptide - 3, also known as Argireline, is an amino acid that relaxes the facial muscles, tightens and slows down degeneration of collagen and elastin. This is a completely safe alternative to Botox. [click to continue…]

Mesotherapy is the technique used to reduce fat and cellulite, to do away with double chins, excess fat around the abdomen, thighs, upper arms, neck and other places. As a medical option mesotherapy is also used to cure headaches and migraine, carpel tunnel and other such problems. It is used in lieu of liposuction, which is used to suck excess fat from the body. Mesotherapy is used as an alternative to plastic surgery when used cosmetically.
Since it is used to reduce fat, the alternative is to use natural procedures. Like dieting and exercise to remove fat from the body. Going to a gym regularly, walking and jogging, spot exercising can also get rid of unwanted fat and bring the body back into shape.
Cellulite is something which ninety percent f people have. Mesotherapy gets rid of that. Good food, regular proper diet, fresh air and sunshine are some of the most natural ways of getting a sculptured body. Though it does not have any serious side effects, it is also not a standardized procedure. It is tailor made for specific people and doctors change the prescription to suit different types of patients. This is sometimes risky if the doctor is not very experienced or if he makes a bad judgment.

Shea butter is natural fat extracted from fruit of the shea tree. It is especially known for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient. Shea butter is a popular ingredient in many products.
It is so safe that shea butter is edible. It can be consumed in foods and is also used in the manufacture of chocolate as a substitute for cocoa butter. The two kinds of shea butter available are unrefined certified organic and chemically refined. Unrefined shea butter is processed without chemicals. The chemically refined shea butter is bleached, heated, and solvent extracted using a petrol-chemical. Purist claim the chemically refined version lacks the healing properties found in unrefined organic shea butter. [click to continue…]
